She is a cum laude graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, with a B.S. in Business and a specialty in Accounting. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor University of Nevada, Reno, and later the University of Nevada System Administration. She was Faculty Senate Chairman for System Administration and as such negotiated with the Board of Regents on behalf of the faculty. She is an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She is involved in numerous professional, civic, and charitable organizations.
